Mamaroneck Historical Murals: Celebrate Spring Break 2019 with Art and History!

The Village of Mamaroneck is proud to welcome Mamaroneck Historical Murals to our Village.

Beginning Saturday, April 13, renowned street artists from around the world will be creating six spectacular murals on Village walls that pay tribute to the diversity, history, and heritage of our ‘Friendly Village’. On Saturday, April 20, when the paintings are complete, a guided Art Walk will tour all six murals, starting off with ceremonies at 1pm in Columbus Park.

A Spring Break week of special events will offer a wonderful community experience for all ages. Residents and visitors are invited to meet the artists and watch them at work. Films starring Mamaroneck actors, the subject of a mural on “The Artist Scene”, will be screened at the Library. The iconic Skinny House, another mural inspiration, will be showcased in presentations by Julie Seely, the builder’s granddaughter. A spray paint workshop will teach street art techniques.

For information on the Skinny House Presentation, see below. For information on Mural Film Series, see below.

Five murals will be painted by international street artists now completing wall art in Manhattan in association with the United Nations. The sixth artist, selected by the Village of Mamaroneck Arts Council, is a local artist.

The Mamaroneck Historical Murals is produced by Street Art for Mankind, a local non-profit, the Mamaroneck Historical Society, and the Arts Council, with the support of the Village of Mamaroneck. The project, facilitated by former Village Trustee Leon Potok, is funded by local businesses and individuals. Additional sponsors and donations are needed.

We urge the community to participate in this very special Spring Break of Art and History!
